Pigeon Duck

We had a pigeon rescue for a while last year and I kept it in the duck enclosure for a while because it needed to get stronger before it could go to a real pigeon keeper. I was quite surprised to learn that pigeons actually swim voluntarily when the water is deeper and they can't reach the bottom. This one jumped in on a daily basis, floated around between the ducks until it was really wet and then jumped out to dry on the side of the pond. First time I saw him floating I thought he fell in by accident and helped him out but the next day I saw he did it on purpose (hovering over the water and slowly lowering himself into the water) and I waited to see if all would go well. It did. Every day. I found it amazing.
