An illustration of how Venlo (city near me in the Netherlands) used to look in the 1700s. This Illustration is printed as a 6 meters wide panel and displayed until March 2012 in the Limburgs Museum in Venlo along with 4 others. Original is digital and more than 40.000 pixels wide. Although I'd rather had painted this without the lines, budget and time frame didn't allow it.
Especially posted for Rocklaw (Look, no boobies here )
Ah. My other passion... medieval warfare. Knights, armor, castles! Well, this isn't from the medieval times though... the battlements are designed to better withstand cannon fire while leaving as few blind spots as possible and offering straight lines for the defenders to shoot along and wipe the walls clean. But old fortifications are still interesting!
I like the women you've drawn, but this is wonderful too! The way the riverbed terrain changes the colors of the water, the reflections of the clouds…I think it's a nice composition.
